Side by Side Project
What is it
The “Side by Side Project” is an initiative in collabouration with AVO (Associazione Volontari Ospedalieri) Florence. AVO offers support and guidance to people in vulnerable situations, both within and outside healthcare facilities. The project aims to train volunteers and, in collabouration with other associations in the sector, create a service for foreigners to provide information and guidance on health services, prevention, and health care.
Objectives
The pandemic has further highlighted the difficulties faced by the most vulnerable and marginalized groups: people living alone, disabled people, and migrants. The project, in particular, aims to provide information and assistance in health and prevention programs, with specially selected volunteers. These volenteers are trained, taking into account cultural aspects and how cultural background can influence their approach to health and healthcare services.
Program
- Initial and periodic training and assessment meetings for volunteers.
- Project promotion event.
- Facilitating access for foreigners to health and prevention programs.
- Creation of a dedicated information and support desk for foreigners in the healthcare field.
